Petrol price increases [1]

The price of petrol has increased while kerosene and diesel prices have decreased starting today, 18 May, approved by the Tonga Competent Authority.
The wholesale price for petrol has increased by 4.36 seniti/litre, and decreased by 0.45 and 1.84 seniti/litre for kerosene and diesel respectively. All price changes include consumption tax.
On Tongatapu, the retail price for petrol, kerosene, and diesel is 293.44, 180.96, and 278.69 seniti/litre respectively.
The new prices were attributed to changes in international prices. Comparing the average prices for the month of April with March:
- Crude oil (Dated Brent) was down by USD 0.37/bbl (0.6%);
- Petrol was up by USD 0.56/bbl (0.8%);
- Kerosene was down by USD 0.05/bbl (0.1%); and
- Diesel was down by USD 0.84/bbl (1.2%).
In addition, the freight rate increased by 0.3% while the Tongan Pa’anga has remained stable.
