Conviction for drug offender busted with drugs at Pili [1]

Wesley Fifita (28) was found guilty with possession of 0.04gm of methamphetamine and 0.66gm of cannabis seized at a home, where drugs were said to have been sold at Pili.
Hon. Mr Justice Niu convicted him on the two counts on May 12, after a trial at the Nuku’alofa Supreme Court.
The offending was on June 16, 2020 when Police received information that drugs were being sold at Talia’uli Fatongiatau's house in Pili.
He said the Police Tactical Response Group arrived and found the accused inside the house with another person, sititng on the floor of the lounge.
When a Police officer searched the accused, he noticed that the accused was hitting his right knee trouser pocket with his hand. He found in that pocket broken glass pieces of an ice-smoking pipe and in the accused rear pocket was $52 or so in cash, and one pack of methamphetamine.
When the lounge was searched a pack of cannabis and a glass ice smoking pipe were also found in a bowl on a shelf.
In addition, a police dog sniffed around the house and found a Pall Mall cigarette packet, which was in a pile of rubbish in the kitchen. It appeared to be empty and was half squashed. When the packet was opened, there was one pack of cannabis, one pack of meth and an empty pack or two inside.
Police asked the accused whose it was and he said, he did not know.
The judge said, after having considered all the evidence in this case, he was satisfied beyond reasonable doubt of the offences against the accused.
Her will be sentenced at a later date.
