Man guilty of indecently assaulting teenager [1]

A 46-year-old man was found guilty at the Nuku'alofa Supreme Court on two counts of serious indecent assault of a teenager in 2020.

Hon. Mr Justice Niu delivered his verdict on April 27, after a four-days trial in March.

After hearing the evidence presented in court, the accused was found guilty.

"I am satisfied beyond reasonable doubt that the accused is guilty on both offences and I convict him."

He will be sentenced on a date to be confirmed.

Meanwhile, the judge ordered on the request of the Crown that no publication shall be made of the complainant's name or anything that might reveal her identity.
