NZ-Australia starts quarantine free travel with full loads [1]

The first two-way quarantine-free commercial flights between Australia and New Zealand started today, April 19.

Air New Zealand said today, its NZ246 departed Sydney with a full load of excited customers ready to reunite with friends and whānau. 

The flight landed in Te Whanganui-a-Tara (Wellington) at 1:00pm NZT.

This is a two-way quarantine-free commercial flight also known as "green" flights between New Zealand and all states and territories of Australia.

Prior to this, New Zealanders had to isolate on arrival into New Zealand. 

“Now, both New Zealanders and Australians can enter freely so this is an incredibly emotional day,” stated the airline. 

Our flights into New Zealand from Australia are at 97% capacity today so you can picture what the airports look like, said Air New Zealand.

Meanwhile, this is also just the second travel bubble in the world, after Taiwan and Palau, with countries still committed to keeping Covid-19 out.
