Four Tonga repatriation flights for end of April [1]

Four repatriation flights are being planned to arrive in Tonga on April 28 and 30. 

The flights will be from New Zealand; Brisbane in Australia; Pagopago in American Samoa; and Fiji.

MEIDECC CEO Paula Ma’u said today, the flight from Pagopago will repatriate Tongans, while taking 20 outgoing passengers.

More details will be released later.

However, further repatriation flights are now being planned for May 26 and June 23.

This is to allow time for frontline workers to rest and recharge after the 21-quarantine days, while preparing the quarantine facilities for the next lot, he said.

A flight from Australia was also expected to arrive today to take more Tongan seasonal workers.

There were no incoming passengers.
