Vava'u maritime radio operators training [1]

A two-day training course for Maritime Radio Operators was held last week in Vava’u at the new Vavau Emergency Coordination Centre, which as opened on March 17.
The training was for maritime radio operators to acquire a Restricted Radio Operator Certificate of Proficiency.
The course delivered by the Department of Communication under MEIDECC was attended by participants from government ministries, public enterprises, community and tour operators.
This equipment provides maritime services, a medium of communication during disasters that can save lives.
“Tonga by law is bound by international convention with the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Radio Regulation 2020 and International Maritime Organization (IMO) and is our obligation that we provide this training in compliance,” he said.
The training was held on March 18-19.
