Repatriation flights from New Zealand, Australia, and Fiji are expected to arrive in Tonga on 31 March, confirmed MEIDECC CEO Paula Ma’u this morning.
This includes the repatriation flight from New Zealand that was postponed on 3 March, and again on 10 March, due to the COVID-19 lockdown restrictions in Auckland at the time.
Paula added that there may be incoming flights before then but just to pick up outgoing passengers.
To date a total of 1898 people have been repatriated to Tonga since the border closed last March due to CoViD-19.
Meanwhile, 167 passengers repatriated from Australia and Fiji on 3 March are still in quarantine for 21 days and will be released next week after their final CoViD-19 test results are known.
