107 passengers were repatriated to Tonga on a chartered flight from Australia this afternoon. A group of seasonal workers also departed Tonga on the same flight.

MEIDECC CEO, Paula Ma’u, said today that the passengers included around 34 seasonal workers and passengers who had been stranded overseas.

The group will quarantine for 21-days at Kupesi Hotel and Taliai Military Camp at Fua’amotu.

At the same time, 100 plus seasonal workers departed Tonga on the flight back to Brisbane.

Tonga has consistently been sending seasonal workers to Australia, with chartered flights sent by employers to take them.
