Lavulavu couple forgery trial set for April [1]

The forgery trial against a current Cabinet Minister and People’s Representative to Parliament, ‘Akosita Lavulavu, and her husband, a former Cabinet Minister, ‘Etuate is now expected to start in April.

The Crown said today the trial was set to start on April 12 to run for two-months, before the new judge Hon. Justice Nicholas Cooper at the Nuku'alofa Supreme Court. 

Both accused are charged with six counts each of knowingly dealing with forged documents and obtaining money by false pretences, relating to a number of irregularities in an audit of the ‘Unuaki ‘o Tonga Royal Institute in 2016.

This trial has been adjourned numerous times due to various reasons.
