Child dies after being hit on road in Popua [1]

A two-years and five-months old boy died on Thursday evening, January 14 after being hit by a vehicle in Popua, Tongatapu.

Acting Deputy Commissioner Tevita Vailea said today, information they had received was that the child was crossing the road and was hit by the vehicle. 

The driver, a 52-year-old woman from Hofoa surrendered herself to Police.

She has been charged with reckless driving causing death.

A police investigation continues with more information to be released later.
