HE Mr Viliami Va’inga Tone with HE Mr Pedro Luis Pedroso Cuesta at the Permanent Mission of Cuba to the United Nations in New York on 5 January 2021

HE Mr Viliami Va’inga Tone presented his letter of Credence to the President of the Republic of Cuba, HE Mr Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez, in a virtual ceremony held at the Permanent Mission of Cuba to the United Nations in New York on 5 January 2021.

Tonga and Cuba established diplomatic relations nearly 20 years ago, and Cuba has previously offered scholarships for Tongan medical students to study in Cuba.

HE Mr Tone conveyed messages of best wishes from HM King Tupou VI and from the Prime Minister, Hon. Rev Dr Pohiva Tu’i’onetoa to HE Mr Miguel Diaz-Camel Bermudez for his good health and longevity as well as the welfare and the prosperity of the people of the Republic of Cuba.
