Tonga establishes diplomatic ties with Saudi Arabia [1]

HE Viliami Vaʻinga Tōnē, and HE Mr Abdallah Y Al-Mouallimi, at the Permanent Mission of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the United Nations in New York, USA. 14 December 2020.

The Kingdom of Tonga and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia have established diplomatic relations at an official ceremony in New York, USA on 14 December.

A Joint Communiqué was signed by HE Mr Viliami Vaʻinga Tōnē, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Tonga to the United Nations, and HE Mr Abdallah Y Al-Mouallimi, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the United Nations.

The ceremony was held in the office of the Permanent Mission of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the United Nations.

HE Mr Abdallah Al-Mouallimi shared that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is willing to strengthen economic and cultural links between the two nations.
