A new branch of the ANZ Bank Tonga was officially opened this morning on Taufa'ahau Road, reestablishing the ANZ presence in the Nuku'alofa central business district.
The main branch of the ANZ on the corner of Railway Rd and Hala Salote was destroyed by fire on November 16.
The ANZ's new branch which was officially opened by the Governor of the National Reserve Bank of Tonga, Mrs Siosi Mafi, will be staffed with ten tellers, three sales consultants, three back office staff and a branch manager.
The new branch, located in the P. Bhagwan & Sons Ltd. building, will be the ANZ's main retail banking outlet in Nuku'alofa. The ANZ's other branch at the 'Alaivahamama'o By-Pass Road, Ma'ufanga, will continue to provide commercial services, while a third branch at the Mailetaha Plaza, Fanga, will operate their lending services and the main administration centre.
The opening of the ANZ central branch this morning marked the return of the ANZ Bank into full operation after 16/11.
The renovation work was carried out by CaBella Pacific Construction.
