Tonga and Latvia establish diplomatic relations [1]

Tonga and Latvia formally established diplomatic relations on 28 October through the signing of a Joint Communique in New York, USA.
The official ceremony was delayed from February 2020 due to CoViD-19 restrictions.
Tonga’s Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations HE Viliami Va’inga Tone, and Latvia’s Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the UN HE Andreis Pildegovics co-signed the Joint Communique.
In a statement they said Latvia is committed to positive engagements in areas of agriculture and forestry, environmental conservation and protection, and e-governance with Tonga.
