Repatriated passengers test negative for CoViD-19 [1]

All passengers repatriated to Tonga from Auckland and Brisbane tested negative for CoViD-19 after arrival, said Ministry of Health CEO, Dr Siale ‘Akau’ola this afternoon.

The 82 repatriated passengers who arrived from Brisbane on 29 October, and 172 who arrived from Auckland on 30 October, are currently in quarantine at the Tanoa Hotel in Nuku’alofa and Makeke Camp in Vaini.

The passengers will be tested again for CoViD-19 on day 14 of quarantine. They are also required to spend a further seven days in home quarantine.

To date, a total of 671 people have been repatriated to Tonga from Fiji, New Zealand, Kiribati, Solomon Islands, Vanuatu, and Australia, including one person who disembarked from a fishing vessel.

Meanwhile, two repatriation flights are planned from Brisbane, Australia on 18 November and from Auckland, New Zealand on 19 November.

More repatriation flights are also planned for December and January.
