The Tongan government's services will close down for their annual Christmas holiday, for two weeks from Monday December 21, 2020, to resume on January 4, 2021.

Cabinet on October 23 approved the Christmas vacation period for most government ministries. 

However, essential services for health, the hospitals, police, and customs will continue to operate.

After public servants resume on January 4, they will finish early at 4:00pm daily during that week for the annual Uike Lotu (Prayer Week of the New Year).
