The price of petrol, kerosene and diesel has decreased starting from today, 16 October, approved by the Tonga Competent Authority for October – November.
The wholesale price for petrol has decreased by 1.59 seniti/litre, kerosene by 6.86 seniti/litre, and diesel by 9.08 seniti/litre. All price changes include consumption tax.
The retail price of petrol for Tongatapu is 241.90 seniti/litre, kerosene is 128.31 seniti/litre and diesel is 233.41 seniti/litre.
Product prices fell on a month-to-month comparison, with diesel margins falling to an all-time low as refiners looked to convert jet fuel to diesel production amid already low demand.
Comparing the September 2020 month average prices with August:
- Crude oil (Dated Brent) was down by USD 3.15/bbl (7%);
- Petrol was down by USD 0.99/bbl (2%);
- Kerosene was up by USD 3.97/bbl (9.2%); and
- Diesel was down by USD 5.26/bbl (10.6%).
The freight rate and the Tongan Pa’anga remained fairly stable for the period. All factors combined, the resulting international price change flows through to a lower retail price for all products.
