Baroness Tuputupu celebrates 90th birthday [1]

Baroness Tuputupu-‘o-Pulotu Vaea celebrated her 90th birthday today, 14 October at her residence, Tali ki Ha‘apai at Houma.

The Baroness is the mother of HM Queen Nanasipau‘u, the eldest of her six children.

She is the widow of Baron Vaea of Houma, a former Prime Minister of Tonga, who passed away in 2009.

Tonga has few people over the age of 90 years. The 2016 national population census, recorded only 111 people in their 90s (31 men and 80 women) throughout all island groups.
