Nuku'alofa, Tonga

Saturday, October 10, 2020 - 08:23

Air New Zealand flies over Fua'amotu International Airport. 15 April 2020.

The repatriation flight with 141 seasonal workers from Christchurch, New Zealand, arrived at Fua’amotu International Airport late Friday afternoon.

The charter flight was funded by the employers of the seasonal workers.

Passengers will now spend 14 days in quarantine at the Tanoa International Dateline Hotel in Nuku’alofa and at Taliai Camp at Fua'amotu, and not at Makeke Camp at Vaini, as previously planned.

The usual COVID-19 protective restrictions will take effect with members of the public prohibited from entering the Tanoa Hotel and Taliai Military Camp, except for essential and authorized personnel.

Road blocks have been reinstated around the hotel on Vuna Road and Tupoulahi Road for the duration of the quarantine period from 9 to 26 October.

Meanwhile, MEIDECC press stated on 6 October that a flight from Fiji is scheduled to land in Tonga Saturday, 10 October bringing in medical supplies for the Ministry of Health.
