The Auckland Institute of Studies (AIS) awarded various bachelor degrees to 17 Tongan overseas students at a graduation ceremony on Monday, 21 September. Unfortunately, the parents of the students could not attend the ceremony because of the COVID-19 border restrictions in Tonga.

Bachelor degrees covered Accounting, Information Technology, Tourism and Hospitality. Alisi Fifita of Kolomotu’a earned an MBA.

Most of the graduates are derived from the Tonga Tertiary Pathways program - where students undergo the first year of their studies in Tonga before completing the rest at AIS in New Zealand. The program is collaboration between AIS, Tupou Tertiary Institute and the Tonga Institute of Higher Education.
