Assault victim remains in hospital [1]

Felesi Manu (20) has been charged with assaulting his 31-year-old girlfriend who remains at Vaiola Hospital.

Police Prosecution said the accused appeared today at the Fasi Magistrate’s Court.

He is charged with causing grievous bodily harm to his girlfriend at a home in Havelu on August 13.

His case was adjourned to allow for the investigation to be completed.

The Court also granted Prosecution's submission for the accused to be further detained in custody. However, a review of his bail is set for September 7.

Police reported that the victim sustained major injuries, on August 17, when the accused was arrested.
