A man was sentenced to four-years imprisonment for attempted carnal knowledge of a child under the age of 12 at the Supreme Court.
He pleaded guilty to the offence in July this year after being charged on November 26, 2019.
On August 14, Hon Mr Justice Cato sentenced the accused to four-years, which was backdated to when he was first detained in Police custody.
In addition, the final 12-months of the sentence was suspended on conditions that he does not commit any offence punishable during suspension, must not drink alcohol or take drugs, among other requirements.
An order was issued by the judge suppressing the victim’s identity or anything that might indirectly identify her.
This is the second case last week, which imprisoned men for sexual offences against a minor, showing an increasing number of these cases now before the Court.
