A 26-year-old man from ‘Utulau was arrested for the theft of $19,964 pa’anga worth of goods stolen from a warehouse at Haveluloto.
Acting Deputy Commissioner Tevita Vailea said today, the theft and housebreaking was reported to Police on June 20.
Search warrants were executed at homes in Ha’alalo and ‘Utulau, after Police enquiries established that stolen goods were suspected to be on these premises.
The stolen goods included washing machines, refrigerators, freezers, stoves, sewing machines, microwaves, mountain bikes, tent and mats.
The accused has been charged with theft and housebreaking and is remanded in Police custody to appear, at the Magistrate's Court on July 13.
“This is a great result and very rewarding to be able to get back the goods and return them to the owner. Housebreaking and theft are invasive crimes and we are committed to holding those responsible to account,” said A/DPC Vailea.
He stressed that receiving stolen goods was also a crime and those who accepted stolen goods would be subjected to the attention of the Police, he said.
