14 arrests in Tongatapu drug busts [1]

Fourteen men have been arrested and charged after the seizure of methamphetamine and cannabis, at eight different locations in Tongatapu.
Acting Deputy Commissioner Tevita Vailea said today, police seized 4.93 grams of methamphetamine, 33.15 grams of cannabis and drug utensils.
The Police Drug Enforcement Taskforce from May 15-20 seized the illicit drugs at Halaleva, Tofoa, Veitongo, Matahau, Hala’ovave and Pahu.
The accused aged 17-41 years have been charged with unlawful possession of the illicit drugs. They are expected to appear at the Fasi Magistrate’s Court on a date to be confirmed.
In addition, the taskforce continues to target drug dealers and suppliers.
Police will continue to work closely with the community to prevent the harm illicit drugs cause and the ongoing criminal activity associated with its use.
