A murder charge has been laid against a 19-year-old youth in the death of Ned Cook (67) who was allegedly assaulted on Friday night, May 15 on Vuna Road, Ma'ufanga.

Acting Deputy Commissioner Tevita Vailea said this afternoon, the accused from Ma'ufanga remains in custody.

The accused has not been named yet, because he is due to appear at the Fasi Magistrate’s Court on Monday, May 25.

At this stage, the accused is the only person charged with the murder. However, the homicide investigation continues to determine the full circumstances of the victim's death, said the A/Deputy Commissioner.

The Salvation Army Team Leader, Ned Cook, died on Sunday, May 17 at Vaiola Hospital.

The accused was arrested on the same day.
