Tonga Supreme Court reopens January 22 [1]

The Tonga Supreme Court will be back in service next Monday January 22 after it had been closed down for two months following the destruction of central Nuku'alofa on 16 November 2006.

A spokesperson for the Supreme Court office said that hearings in the Nuku'alofa Supreme Court were scheduled to start on January 15 but then it was delayed again.

Meanwhile, most of the Supreme Court staff who were relocated to the Tonga National Center at Tofoa, because of the restriction of movement in central Nuku...’alofa, have returned to the main office next to the Parliament House, Nuku'alofa.
