Four Tongans picked in 2020 NFL Draft [1]

At least four college football players of Tongan descent were selected in the 2020 NFL Draft held from 23 – 25 April, including Tonga born guard Netane Muti. In addition to the draft, six free agents of Tongan descent have been contracted since the draft.

The earliest pick was Devin Asiasi (also of Samoan descent), a tight end for the University of California, who was the 91st overall pick after being selected by the New England Patriots in the third round of the draft.

Leki Fotu, a defensive tackle for the University of the Utah, was selected by the Arizona Cardinals in the fourth round of the draft.

Tonga born Netane Muti, a guard of Fresno State University, was selected by the Denver Broncos in the sixth round.

John Penisini, a defensive tackle for the University of the Utah, was selected by the Detroit Lions in the sixth round and was 197th overall pick.
