Lockdown offenders fined at Nukunuku district [1]

Three people were today sentenced to a fine of $1,000 to $150 pa’anga each at Nukunuku Magistrate’s Court for breaching restrictions imposed during the national lockdown.
The Crown Prosecution said the accused were charged with offences under sections 38 and 39 of the Emergency Management Act.
Three pleaded guilty. Two others did not turn up at the lower court.
Siosaia Liava'a was fined $1,000 for failure to comply with the direction of an authorized officer and $150 for drunkenness.
Sione ‘Ulukau was fined $1,000 for failure to comply with the direction of an authorized officer and $200 for drunkenness.
Siaosi Pousini was similarly fined $1,000 for failure to comply and $150 for drunkenness.
Warrants have been issued to arrest the two who did not turn up at the lower court.
All arrests were made during curfew hours (8:00pm-6:00am) at Fo'ui and Matahau.
Other offenders have been already been prosecuted and fined at the Fasi and Mu'a Magistrate's Court this week, for similar offences, during the lockdown.
