Chartered flight lands in Tonga [1]

A special chartered flight arrived at Fua’amotu International Airport this afternoon, to pick up a group from the National Geographic, an American television network.

Paul Karalus of Tonga’s Air Terminal Services said today, the flight arrived at 11:30am and departed for Auckland.

He said four passengers associated with the National Geographic were on board.

“This is a special charter duly approved by the Ministry of Health and Task Force.”

Two more special charter flights are scheduled to arrive in Tonga on Friday, both destinied for the United States.

Meanwhile, all commercial flights have been diverted from Tonga, due to the acceleration of CoViD-19 pandemic worldwide.

In Tonga a national lockdown is currently enforced for a week, since March 28.

Tonga has no COVID-19 case.
