Tonga’s Public Service Commission has cancelled all travel of Government employees until further notice, stating that this is to protect the safety of the people of Tonga against the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Commission today issued the notice to all line ministries (and positions under the PSC permanent position holders and contract employees including daily paid labourers) of the immediate suspension of all official travels of public servants from Tonga.
All public servants currently abroad will have to abide by travel restrictions issued by countries, which are entry points to Tonga and the Tonga Ministry of Health.
Further instructions will be provided to all line ministries and public servants on COVID-19 interim measures in line with the directions of relevant bodies.
These interim measures are put into place to protect the health and safety of the public service and the people of Tonga. We are in this together, said PSC.
