Indonesian Defence Attache visits Tonga [1]

Colonel Iwan Suryono, the Defence Attache at the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia, New Zealand visited Tonga for the first time during the second week of March,
The Indonesian Wellington Embassy responsible for their diplomatic relations with Tonga and Samoa.
Col. Suryono said that a Pacific Exposition, staged by Indonesia in Auckland for the first time in July 2019 was a trade, investment, and tourism event, designed to facilitate the South Pacific countries to promote their economic opportunities. The Exposition was the first step towards connecting goods and people of the Pacific and Southeast Asia.
Another Pacific Exposition is planned for 2022.
Col Suryono was accompanied by Agam Jaya Syam a social media blogger.
During their time in Nuku’alofa they pointed out a number of Tongan words which are similar to those in the Indonesian language. They said that the people of islands in the Eastern Province of Indonesia, Maluku and North Maluku had links to Polynesia.
