A 20-year old man from the village of Longoteme was killed early on Christmas evening following an incident at a newly opened salt- water swimming pool at Touliki on Hala Vuna.

The Tonga Deputy Police Commander of Police, Taniela Faletau, said today that the cause of death was from a severe head injury and the Police had arrested and charged a man with murder.

The swimming pool was crowded yesterday afternoon as people flocked to the sea to cool off. An eye-witness at the scene said that a fight broke out among some youths. It was believed that someone threw a rock, which hit a bystander on his temple. The youth was reported to have died on arrival at Vaiola Hospital.

Three youths from Popua were arrested by the police, and one has been charged with murder.
