As a long term member of Tonga's tourism industry, I believe that recent government changes and initiatives (those, made prior and following 16/11), show that tourism in Tonga has now been realised as an important part in the Kingdom's future and therefore looks more promising than ever!

These changes will, without a doubt, help us get Tonga's tourism quickly onto the road of recovery!

Some of the changes made recently, were the establishment of a Ministry solely responsible for tourism, the dismissal of Tonga's "one airline policy", as well as the incentive "for new and existing establishments" to think long term, trough the introduction of longer term leases.

Finally, I like to add that even though the events of 16/11 have been a major setback for Tonga and its tourism industry (in way of tourist arrivals), the resolve and determination shown by most operators is a clear indication to me that we are all going to work "hand in hand" to bring tourism back to where it was prior to 16/11 and beyond!
