‘Epeli Taione charged with illicit drugs [1]

‘Epeli Taione (40) and two other men who have been charged with possession of illicit drugs, appeared at the Fasi Magistrate’s Court on February 3.
Taione is charged along with Creed Tongamoa (49) and Master Suasau (40).
Police Prosecution said today, the case was adjourned to May 11, awaiting results of the illicit drugs tests from New Zealand.
Taione was granted bail last week, as a first time offender.
Meanwhile, the two other accused, who are not first time offenders, remain in police custody. They can apply for bail to the lower court, said the Prosecution officer.
Arrests
On Saturday morning, January 25, the accsed were arrested with the alleged illicit drugs at ‘Umusi.
The Police Drug Enforcement Taskforce made the arrests at a mechanical workshop, in an ongoing drugs operation targeting drug dealers and suppliers.
Allegedly seized were two packs of cocaine (1.04 grams) two live .22 bullets and over $5,000 pa'anga cash.
