The two day Secondary Entrance Examination for Class Six of the Government's Primary Schools finished on October 6 with 3,191 students sitting throughout Tonga.
Tu‘ifua Petelo, Senior Education Officer of the Examination Unit said students from 113 Government Primary Schools from Tongatapu, Vava‘u, Ha‘apai, ‘Eua and the two Niuas sat the exam.
Tu‘ifua said that last year 3,250 students sat the entrance examination. The decrease is due to more students passing their entrance exams in their first year at Class 6 then moving on to Form 1 at their preferred secondary school .
The students sat four subject examination papers, English, Tongan, Mathematics and Environmental Science.
The results of this year's secondary entrance exams will be announced in December just before the Christmas holidays.
