Driver in Halaliku fatal crash named [1]

Taniela Manu (25) was the driver from ‘Utulau who died after his vehicle crashed into a tree on Halaliku road on January 21.

Police confirmed his body was released today to his family for his funeral.

The front seat passenger, his wife Lavinia, who sustained serious injuries remains in a stable condition at Vaiola Hospital, Nuku'alofa.

Police alleged speeding was a factor in the crash, which occurred at around 2:10pm. 

This was the first road death for 2020.
