Welsh rugby prospect Willis Halaholo, expressed his irritation with internet trolls criticizing and insulting his selection for the Wales Rugby last year because of the fact that he was from New Zealand.
The 29-year-old centre who resides in Wales and plays for the Cardiff Blues in the Pro14 tournament, said that he was being unfairly singled out.
“I don't know whether it just comes to race or the way I am, my personality. I'm not too sure”, he said in a podcast with Scrum V, a Welsh rugby channel.
Halaholo suggested racism because of the fact that two other New Zealand born players (white) were not being subjected to the same abuse.
“I had seen some racist comments”,
"I've seen two other Kiwi-born players receive a huge welcome and then there's a few question marks over me”
“It's mainly on Twitter that I see these things…I never go looking for it but when I come across it, it's a little bit disheartening”
"Because anyone that knows me knows family is huge for me. I have two Welsh-born daughters now that makes this country solidified in my heart”.
