Men bailed in Vava'u busts [1]

Two men arrested in the seizure of illicit drugs and illegally importing firearms and ammunition in separate Tonga Police operations in Vava’u, have been released on bail.
Tonga Police said today, Allen Gerard Digioia (66) is the U.S citizen living on Tapana Island in Vava’u, who was arrested regarding cannabis.
On January 10, Police arrested him when he tried to pick up a parcel from the Neiafu Post Office.
The parcel allegedly contained 18.05 grams of cannabis oil. Later 0.28 grams of cannabis was seized at his home, during a search warrant.
At the same time, Viliami Petelo (64) from Leimatu’a was arrested in relation to the ammunition seized.
On January 14, Police seized 1,430 pieces of ammunition, alleged to have been illegally imported.
The Magistrate's Court in Neiafu confirmed both accused have been charged and released on bail to appear on January 28.
