Dr. Palatasa Havea new Dean Pasifika of Massey University [1]

Massey University in New Zealand, has appointed distinguished scientist and professor Dr. Palatasa Havea ONZM to be the new Dean of the University’s “Office of Pasifika Student Success”.
Tongan born Dr. Havea takes up his new position after having worked as a food scientist for New Zealand largest company, Fonterra, for 20 years. He worked as a principle research scientist at Fonterra’s Research and Development Centre in Palmerston North, where he helped manufacture protein products. His work has been published in scientific journals. Last year, he received the Queen’s medal – NZ Order of Merit – in recognition of his services to the dairy industry and the Pacific community in New Zealand.
Massey University said in a statement, “Professor Havea will be responsible for providing strategic leadership and advocacy for Pasifika at Massey – supporting Pacific student and staff success. He will lead, coordinate and implement strategy and represent Massey University on matters relating to Pacific tertiary education, research and development at a national level.”
