Meth seized at 'Umusi [1]

Drugs seized by Tonga Police. 13 December 2019.

Three men were arrested after methamphetamine and cannabis were seized on December 13 at a mechanic shop in 'Umusi.

The Police Drug Enforcement Taskforce seized  packs of methamphetamine (2.75 grams), two packs of cannabis (0.93 grams) and drug utensils.

The accused, who do not work at the mechanic workshop, included a 39-year old man from Popua, a 34-year-old from Fasi and a 39-year-old from Kolomotu'a. 

Deputy Police Commissioner Pelenatita Fe’ao Vaisuai, said today all of the accused had been charged.

They are to appear at the Magistrate's Court on a later date.

“Tonga Police are committed to disrupt and detect the supply of drugs where thereby preventing the harm this illegal activity causes. It only takes one call to Police to stop crime and the availability of drugs in your community," said the Deputy Commissioner.

Police rely on members of the public to pass on any information about drug cultivation, manufacture and/or dealing.

“We encourage anyone who may have any information relating to drug related offending to contact police on 22784,” she said.
