Israel Folau's legal dispute with Rugby Australia is over, with both parties announcing that they reached a confidential agreement, in a joint statement released today 4 December.
Both parties apologized to each other in the joint statement.
“While it was not Rugby Australia's intention, Rugby Australia acknowledges and apologises for any hurt or harm caused to the Folaus”, the statement read.
“Similarly, Mr Folau did not intend to hurt or harm the game of rugby and acknowledges and apologises for any hurt or harm caused,
"Mr Folau wants all Australians to know that he does not condone discrimination of any kind against any person on the grounds of their sexuality and that he shares Rugby Australia's commitment to inclusiveness and diversity,
"Inclusiveness is one of Rugby's core values and it welcomes all people to the game, including all members of the LGBTI community.”
The joint statement ended with parting words, suggesting that Folau’s professional rugby career in Australia was over.
"Rugby Australia and Mr Folau wish each other well for the future."
The bitter dispute arose after Israel Folau was sacked by Rugby Australia in April this year for sharing a religious instagram post that declared that all sinners including homosexuals would burn in hell if they did not repent.
