Tongan Ambassador presents credentials in Abu Dhabi [1]

Tongan Ambassador HE 'Akau'ola, presents his credentials. Abu Dhabi. November 2019.

Tonga's first Ambassador to United Arab Emirates, HE 'Akau'ola presented his Credentials at the presidential Qasr Al Watan Palace in Abu Dhabi, on 12 November, 2019.

His credentials were received by HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai.

Also presenting their credentials were the Ambassadors from the Swiss Confederation, Slovak Republic, Republic of Cyprus, Republic of Niger, Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, European Union, Republic of Northern Macedonia, Italian Republic, Republic of Latvia, Republic of Rwanda and Republic of Angola.

The establishment of a Tongan Embassy in the UAE is a milestone for the Kingdom of Tonga in its relationship with the UAE.

King Tupou VI in June 2018 sent 'Akau'ola to  UAE to seek assistance of the Government of the United Arab Emirates in setting up the Kingdom of Tonga's first Embassy in the Middle East. He also sought assistance for ongoing support of hte operation.
The Embassy of the Kingdom of Tonga is currently staffed by HE 'Akau'ola and First Secretary Sione Sonata Tupou CQS.
