The Tongan government's services will close down for their annual Christmas holidays, for two weeks from Monday 23 December 2019, to resume on Monday 6 January 2020

Cabinet on October 30 approved the Christmas vacation period for most government ministries. However, essential services such as police, hospital, customs and border control services will continue to operate.

After Public servant resume on January 6, they will finish early at 4:00pm daily during that week for the annual Uike Lotu (Prayer Week for the New Year).
