Uli Latukefu stars in “The Legend of Baron To‘a” [1]

Australian-Tongan actor Uli Latukefu stars in the highly anticipated action comedy which centres around a Tongan character set in New Zealand. An official trailer [2]of “The Legend of Baron To‘a” was released yesterday 21 October.
The movie – produced by a New Zealand film company Brown Sugar Apple Grunt – follows the journey of a young Tongan entrepreneur (played by Latukefu) who lives in the shadow of his late father and pro-wrestler Baron To’a. Latukefu’s character seeks to reclaim his father’s belt that was stolen by a group of gangsters.
“The all-star brown cast we have assembled for this film is amazing”, stated director of the movie, Kiel McNaughton, in a media release.
“I’ve always wanted my first feature to be an action film and with a great script from writer, John Argall, and some amazing action sequences put together by our world-class local crew, this film is going to be a lot of fun.”
The Legend of Baron To’a features an all-star Pacific Islander and Maori cast including Nathaniel Lees (The Matrix Reloaded), Jay Laga’aia (Star Wars) and John Tui (Battleship, Hobbs & Shaw), and Kiwi domestic stars Shavaughn Ruakere and Fasitua Amosa (Shortland Street).
Uli Latukefu’s star role comes after appearances in a string of Australia TV series such as Doctor Doctor, Harrow and Sando. He was a cast member in 2017 Hollywood blockbuster Alien: Covenant.
