The case against five men charged with the murder of Sione Feimoefiafi (49) in the Nuku'alofa CBD in February this year has been adjourned to October 21.
Konai Bloomfield, Vilaketi Bloomfield, Sione Bloomfield, Siafa Nai and Tangi Tiufilusi Nai each charged with murder, had all appeared at the Fasi Magistrate’s Court on October 14.
Police Prosecution confirmed today, the adjournment is to allow time for the defence to make submission on the prosecution's evidence.
The accused who are on bail remain on the Supreme Court's “no fly” list and are prohibited from travelling outside of Tonga.
This was after they were granted bail earlier this year but under strict conditions that included surrendering their passports to the Court.
Although their case is still with the lower court, their bail is under the jurisdiction of the Supreme Court.
The victim, Feimoefiafi from Puke and Portland, USA, was visiting family in Tonga when this tragedy occurred on February 4.
He was fatally injured in a beating alleged to have been committed by the accused at and outside the Tali‘eva Bar in broad daylight in the Nuku'alofa CBD.
