Trio in fruit picker’s murder appear in court [1]

The three men charged in the murder of a 35-year-old returning fruit picker at Holonga appeared at the Magistrate’s Court in Mu’a on October 9.

Motuku Ve'evalu Kafalava (25), Maka Manase Filihia (21) and Meili Valele (21) have been similarly charged with murder in the death of Fanaafe Misifane.

The trio who remained in police custody were due to appear at the lower court again on October 16, confirmed the Magistrate’s office today.

Meanwhile, they are alleged to have assaulted the victim with metal rods on the head on Sunday, October 6.

The victim had only just returned from Australia the day before on October 5, after working as a fruit picker.
