Malia Maketalena Sio, a mother of three, graduated with a Post Graduate Diploma in Education on September 19.
One of 65% of women graduating from the University of the South Pacific, she achieved her Post Graduate Diploma in Education despite being pregnant with her third child while studying, an inspiration for women, said USP.
Malia was one of 460 students who graduated in the Faculty of Arts, Law and Education (FALE) and Faculty of Science, Technology and Environment (FSTE) graduation, under a USP Student Bursary Scheme.
"It was a challenging time for her because she was pregnant during her studies but she was able to cope because of the support of her family.”
She said if a person is dedicated then anything is possible as she just gave birth a month ago and is finally blessed with a son, a double celebration for her family.
In addition, she dedicated her success to her husband and family who motivated her throughout the journey.
Malia who is currently a Course Coordinator of Tonga Institute of Higher Education plans to undertake a Masters in Education next.
