Tonga represents Polynesia on PASAI Governing Board [1]

Tonga’s Supreme Audit Institution (the Office of the Auditor General) was reappointed by the Pacific Association of Supreme Audit Institutions Congress PASAI as the representative of the Polynesian countries in the PASAI Governing Board for the coming three years, from August 2019 to August 2022.
Tonga’s Auditor General, Sefita Tangi represented Tonga at the PASAI 22 Congress that was held at the Intercontinental Fiji Golf Resort and SPA, Natadola, Fiji from 12-16 August.
The theme for this year’s Congress was “Supreme Audit Institutions contribution to Sustainable Development Goals”.
Sustainable Development Goals SDG are a collection of 17 global goals set by the UN General Assembly in 2015 for the year 2030.
During the five days congress participants deliberated over two of the 17 goals of the SDG, Climate Change and Gender Equality.
The 19 PASAI member country, state or territory auditors are Australia, Cook Islands, Fiji, French Polynesia, Kiribati, Marshall Islands, Nauru, New Caledonia, New South Wales, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Pohnpei, Queensland, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu, Vanuatu and Victoria.
The PASAI 23rd Congress in 2020 will be hosted by Palau.
Tonga's Office of the Auditor General is an independent statutory office holder, with a role to scrutinizie public spending under the supervision of the Legislative Assembly.
