Young man charged with sexual assault of child [1]

A 20-year-old man has been arrested and charged with sexual assault of a four-year old girl in Tongatapu on Friday, August 2.

Acting Chief Superintendent Tevita Vailea said today, the accused was arrested on Saturday, August 3.

He is charged with kidnapping and sexual assault.

The accused is remanded in police custody to appear at the Magistrate's Court later this week.

No other details have been released at this stage while the police investigation continues.
