Temaleti Manakovi Aleamotu’a Pahulu. CEO Ministry of Justice.

Mrs Temaleti Manakovi Aleamotu’a Pahulu of Kolomotu’a was appointed as the Chief Executive Officer  for the Ministry of Justice for a four year term, the Public Service Commission announced recently. She has been the Acting CEO for the Ministry during 2017-18.

Her appointment is for a period of four years from 24 June 2019..

“As Chief Executive Officer, Mrs. Pahulu has the responsibility of implementing government policies and decisions, managing the administrative, operational and broader functions and activities of the Ministry of Justice. She will also be responsible for developing and leading programs to continually improve the effectiveness and efficiency of service delivery outcomes of the Ministry of Justice,” the office of the PSC stated.

Mrs Pahulu holds a Bachelor of Laws (1992) from the University of East London, United Kingdom, and a Bachelor of Arts in History and Anthropology (1985) from the University of Auckland, New Zealand. She first entered into the civil service in 1986 as a Senior Executive Officer at the Supreme Court, and in between her studies served in the Crown Law Department, the Supreme Court Registry, and the Ministry of Justice.

She was appointed Chief Registrar of the Supreme Court in 2007, and in 2009 was a Relieving Magistrate in the Magistrates Court.

Mrs Pahulu became the Deputy Secretary in the Registrar General’s Office from 2012 until 2017.

Along with all her various roles held within the civil service, Mrs Pahulu has also contributed her time and talents carrying out other duties such as: the Chairperson of the Working Group for the Improvement of Civil Registration and Vital Statistics (1995 & 2014), Member of the Executive Committee of the Pacific Judicial Committee (2006), National Coordinator for Tonga on Pacific Judicial Development Programme (2011), and Chairperson of the Family Protection National Committee (2019).
